Pasco roofs do not fail from snow. This is one of the driest places in Washington, so the damage here is thermal and mechanical rather than icy. Summer air runs past 100 degrees for weeks at a time and the surface of a dark west-facing slope goes far higher. Asphalt shingles lose volatiles, granules work loose, the mat turns brittle, and then the wind coming up the Columbia Basin finds every brittle edge and lifted tab.
