A recent Alpine roof in Walla Walla

Built for Walla Walla weather

Walla Walla gets noticeably more rain than the Tri-Cities an hour to the west, and it still gets hot summers and freezing winter nights. That combination is harder on a roof than either extreme alone. Wet autumns and springs keep north-facing slopes damp long enough for moss to establish, particularly under the mature trees that shade so much of the older housing stock around Whitman College and the historic neighborhoods. Moss lifts shingle edges and holds water against the mat. Then summer bakes the same roof and winter freezes whatever moisture is left in it.

So a Walla Walla roof needs both ends covered: proper ventilation and, on shaded slopes, attention to keeping moss off rather than letting it establish and then scraping it off later, which takes granules with it. Our Denali and Premium systems put Vycor ice-and-water shield at the eaves and valleys for the freeze side, and we size ridge and soffit ventilation for the summer heat. Many of the older homes here have had two or three layers added over the decades, and a full tear-off is usually the right answer rather than adding another.

Towns we roof

Our crews work across Walla Walla and the surrounding valley: the historic downtown neighborhoods, the Whitman College area, Walla Walla East and the south side, plus College Place, Touchet, Lowden, Dixie, Waitsburg, Dayton, Prescott and Milton-Freewater across the Oregon line. Walla Walla is served out of our Tri-Cities office at 2016 Logston Blvd, Richland.

Roof repair in Walla Walla

Not every roof needs replacing. Moss damage on shaded slopes, wind-lifted shingles, failed pipe-boot flashing, leaks around chimneys and skylights and storm damage are all repairs, and most run $200 to $1,500. Our free inspection comes with photos of what we actually found, a written estimate, and a straight answer on whether a repair will hold or you are better off replacing.
